• How do I schedule a tour of the Library?

    Please call the Private Events Office at (443) 840-9585 to schedule a viewing appointment. Viewing appointments are scheduled on Mondays from 10:00am to 3:30pm and on weekends during the set-up of scheduled events. The Library is open to the public on Saturdays from 10:00am–1:00pm.

  • What kinds of events do you host?

    The George Peabody Library accommodates wedding ceremonies and receptions, corporate events, award ceremonies, conferences, symposiums, private dinners, and holiday parties.

  • Do you host same-sex weddings?

    We definitely do! We are absolutely LGBTQ friendly and would love to host your event.

  • What time can my event start?

    The George Peabody Library is a public library, so private events are scheduled outside of regular business hours unless special permission is granted. The library is available for rental Saturdays after 4:00pm, Fridays after 6:00pm,  Tuesday–Thursday after 8:00pm, and anytime on Sundays & Mondays. All events must end at or by midnight.

  • How many guests can I have?

    The library can accommodate 200 seated guests and 350 standing. With a dance floor, the space will comfortably accommodate up to 170 seated.

  • May I bring in my own caterer?

    You must choose from one of our three exclusive caterers. All alcohol must be procured and served by one of our exclusive caterers

  • Can I host just my wedding ceremony at the Library?

    The Library does not host ceremony-only events; all ceremonies must be booked in conjunction with a reception.

  • How much time is allowed for set-up and break-down?

    3 hours of set-up and 1.5 hours of tear-down time are included in the rental price. This set-up/break-down time can accommodate most event requirements. Should you need to extend this timing, the extra hour fee of $1,000 per hour would apply.

  • What is included with the rental?

    The rental rate includes one venue manager, at least one student worker and one security guard. The Library also provides tables and chairs. A preparation suite is available one hour before the start time of your ceremony through the conclusion of cocktail hour. A complimentary coat check for up to 150 guests is also available upon request.

  • Are there any extra fees?

    Clients will need to purchase a liability insurance policy in the amount of $1,000,000 for their event. This policy can also be added to a homeowners’ insurance policy. Typically, these policies cost less than $200 per event.

    The Library can also provide a baby-grand piano for a $250 tuning and set-up fee.

  • Does the George Peabody Library allow items or décor to be brought in early and stored for a day or two?

    Because Peabody is a public library, early deliveries and/or next-day pickups are not permitted. There is not a secure storage space available.

  • What is not permitted in the Library?

    The Library does not permit candles or open flames of any kind, balloons, birdseed, potted plants, smoking, bubbles, sparklers, beer kegs, drinking of shots, or amplified music in the adjacent Exhibit Gallery. Smoking of any kind, including electronic cigarettes is not allowed in any of the Peabody facilities.

  • Where can my guests park?

    The Peabody Library recommends valet parking, as there is no parking provided or affiliated with the Library. Jay’s Valet provides exclusive valet services to the George Peabody Library.

  • Does the Library allow photo shoots?

    All photo shoots require a signed agreement, a per-hour fee, and separately purchased liability insurance. Please contact us if you are interested in taking photos at the Library. No commercial photography is permitted on property without prior approval and written contract.

  • Do you allow Bar/Bat Mitzvahs or High School Proms?

    The Peabody Library does not host Bar/Bat Mitzvahs or high school proms. Please consider contacting our sister property, Evergreen Museum & Library if you are hosting this type of event. Most other formats, including wedding ceremonies and receptions, corporate parties and meetings, and holiday parties can be easily accommodated. Please inquire with any questions.
